The Whistle and the Drum

Frank van Kasteren (Sir James, Wooden Saints, It's so cold in Alaska) and Cato van Dijck (The Souldiers, Cirque Valentin) play and make their own compositions and they're proud of it!
They met each other 4 years ago at the "Conservatorium" in Amsterdam, where they both graduated earlier this year. Pretty soon they discovered that their shared musical interest and also their different musical backgrounds, resulted in an interesting writing process. This led to setting up the formation "The Whistle and the Drum".
You could describe their music as: singer/songwriter with a hint of folk, inspired by a.o. Joni Mitchell, Frank Zappa, Rickie Lee Jones and Jeff Buckley.

Ze ontmoetten elkaar 4 jaar geleden op het conservatorium in Amsterdam, waar ze dit jaar (2011) afstudeerden. Al gauw merkten ze dat de gezamenlijke muzikale interesses met daarbij weer de verschillende muzikale achtergronden een interessant schrijfproces opleverde. Dit leidde tot het oprichten van de 2-mans formatie 'The Whistle and the Drum'.
Je zou de muziek kunnen beschrijven als: singer/songwriter met een vleugje folk geïnspireerd door o.a. Joni Mitchell, Frank Zappa, Rickie Lee Jones en Jeff Buckley.
